We completed fun literacy activities finish off or novel studies, new novels will be issued next week. We have been exploring spelling strategies to improve our skills. In writing our focus has been on information texts. We also took inspiration from this weeks author visit to create our own stories.

We are continuing to explore discrimination and sectarianism in R.M.E. Using the Divided City pack workshops.

In art we are continuing to develop our detailed drawing skills and have started to focus on wildlife.

In IDL we are exploring Biodiversity and the impact that we as humans are having on the Biomes of the world. We are part of the web of life and one of the main causes of it’s destruction. We will be considering our own carbon footprints and would appreciate your help in sharing information with your child.

Author visit

After Stuart Reid’s visit we were inspired to write our own stories.

I thought Stuart Reid has a big imagination and knows what the children want when they read a book and also is one of the people with the biggest sense of humour I have ever met. -Max Hunter!!

Problem solving in P.E.

We enjoyed some outdoor problem solving in P. E.

We were doing the assault  course with pallets of water on a tennis racket  who ever had the most water in the jugs  won the activity. It was fun.Caydn Quinn

We had to work as a team trying to keep the most water in the jug to measure at he end,and had to go in chains and not let go from each other.  I though it was really challenging  and really fun .Charlotte Mair

We went outside and we did an assault course ,we had to get a tennis racket and a paint tub filled with water and at the outdoor play area we got the tennis racket and water and we had to not drop any water out of the paint tub and we done it 3 or 4 times and it was so fun .Emma McMurray.

Tricky Maths

During our work on long division I felt when we started that I was struggling, once we had learned and had more practice I could really understand what to do and soon got the hang of it and I didn’t need much help anymore. I started to get full marks or just a few wrong  I even felt more confident when doing them. Since then I have been practising. By Kirsty McKenzie

I could’nt do long division at the start and thought it was boring at first but once I learned to do it I enjoyed it. By Callum Reddock.

Literacy – Novels

We have been exploring our novels in more depth this term to select information carefully to complete tasks, this has enhanced comprehension skills and has shown the importance of preparing set reading at home.

The novel I have been reading was Dark Isle, a book that I have enjoyed very much. I feel I have progressed and improved my reading skills and can select information from the text. I prepare my reading the night before. by Max Hunter.

This term we have been reading The Eleventh Orphan and been selecting strategies to read and write and select words from the text. I  prepare my reading at home the week before and this has helped me to understand my book better and pick information from the text that I need. By Cerys Williams.
