P2 Visit to Summerlee

P2 had a very enjoyable day at Summerlee Museum.   We took part in a Victorian toys workshop and then had a walk around Summerlee.   Here are some of the things the children said about their visit.

“I enjoyed looking in the different houses.” said Sophie S

“I liked making my decoration.” said Aiden

“I enjoyed playing with the Victorian toys.” said Eilidh

“I liked the Victorian gardens.” said Harry and Chloe.

“My favourite was the huge steam train,” said Emilie

“I liked looking at the old-fashioned trucks.” said Lauren

 

Victorian School Days

P2 enjoying the artefacts sent from the Summerlee Museum.

Head Teacher’s Awards have been given to Noraiz Anwar and Cillian Hailstones over the past two weeks.

Dojo Winners are Skye Fitzpatrick for week beginning 9th November and Emma Sophia Seggie for the following week.

Well done all of you.

Learning sets of

Primary 2 are learning sets of (piles of, groups of).    This is multiplication.

2 sets of 2 = 4,   2 sets of 5 = 10,   2 sets of 3 = 6

3 sets of 2 = 6,   3 sets of 3 = 9,   3 sets of 4 = 12

For week beginning 2nd November the Head Teacher’s Award was awarded to Lauren MacDonald.

Emma Sophia Seggie won the Dojo Award.

Toys In Victorian Times

“There were wooden trains,” said Emma Sophia.

“There were metal hoola hoops,” said Adam.

“Spinning tops were favourite toys,” said Conor.

“Pop guns went bang,” said Cillian.

“Victorian children had rocking horses if they were rich,” said Lewis.

Changing Seasons

“Animals hibernate in winter” said Lily.

“The leaves change colours and they blow off the trees because the wind gets stronger in Autumn” said Sophie W.

“The earth begins to turn away from the sun in Autumn” said Dylan.

“The earth is on a tilt” said Aiden.

“In winter some animals migrate” said Daniel.
