Week commencing 15th February

Mr Phairs will upload a recorded video on the topic of particle accelerators onto each Class Team.

Summary Notes are to be read and relevant notes taken.

Past Paper style questions posted on Teams are to be attempted and the Quiz which will be posted later in the week to be submitted.

Mr Phairs will be hosting a different style of tutorial session on Thursday morning where he models answers to the past paper questions.

S4 Physics

Week commencing 15th February

Both N4 and N5 level pupils should firstly watch the recorded lesson on Velocity-Time Graphs, available on the Live Lesson Team.

Relevant pages of Summary Notes should then be completed, and the problems detailed on each class Team should be completed.

A quiz will be assigned later in the week.

Mr Savage will host a live tutorial session on Thursday, detailing how we would approach past paper questions and answering any questions asked.

Week beginning 15/02 – S4 National 5 Biology

This week pupils will start Unit 1 Cell Structure and function. Pupils should read through the Unit 1 Cell structure and function workbook and copy the notes, diagrams and tables from pages 7-10 and 17. Pupils should also read through the PowerPoint and copy the tables with the correct cell heading on slides 13, 14, 18 and 21.  There will be a live lesson periods 1 and 2 on Tuesday 16/02 where we will go over the class notes and PowerPoint for this week giving pupils a chance to take their class notes.  Pupils should also try the past paper questions on cell structure and function and the revision questions for photosynthesis.  There will be a live tutorial periods 3 and 4 on Friday 19/02 to go over all past paper questions set this week.

Homework 1 from the Unit 1 homework booklet has also been set and will be due in on Tuesday 2/03.

S4 National 4 Biology 15/02

Pupils should recap Mitosis by watching the BBC Bitesize video then attempting the test.  We will be starting Aseptic Techniques and Cell Culturing this week, so pupils should read over slides 11-13 from the Unit 1 PowerPoint (in files, on Teams), and answer the questions on slide 14, plus complete the mindmap.  A tutorial will take place on Tuesday at 9:45 – 10:30 to go over the answers, as well as introduce the next part of the course DNA.  Pupils are asked to submit a wordwall assignment for Friday 3pm and do the Kahoot quiz covering this weeks work.

Higher Human Biology 15/02

Pupils should test themselves on 2.6 by doing the Kahoot quiz which can be found on the Learning Grid.  We will move onto 2.7 this week which covers pathology of cardiovascular disease. Pupils should watch the recorded PowerPoint video on YouTube to help complete the pupil notes.  A tutorial on Wednesday P2 and 3, will go over the answers.  Then the live lesson on Friday P1 and 2 will go over the answers to Homework 8, and focus on past paper questions from 2.7.

S3 Chemists

I hope you have all had a lovely long weekend and have been enjoying playing in the snow. As we only have 2 days left this week we will be focusing on consolidating what we have learned so far about Covalent Bonding. I have made 4 short recorded lessons for you to watch on everything we have learned so far and these can be found in Teams. The tasks I would like you to complete this week are;

  1. Watch the 4 recorded lessons on Covalent Bonding and complete any suggested activities. These can be found in the files section of your class Team under week 5.
  2. Complete the assignment task on Teams
  3. Attend the drop-in tutorial session if you are struggling with covalent bonding or if you would just like more practice this will take place at 9.45am Thursday 11/2/21.

S3 Biology

There will be a live lesson on Thursday 11th at 10:45am.  Please bring your jotter and your paragraph on human population growth.

Higher Human Biology

All classes have finished unit 2 key area 6.  Pupils should complete and submit their assignment before next Friday 12/2.  Past papers on 2.6 can be found at the end of the PowerPoint 2.6 in class notebooks – please try these questions during Thursday and Friday next week.
