S1 & S2 Science

Good morning all, I hope everyone enjoyed the lovely weekend. Here are some activities for you to complete this week. This is slightly different to the previous weeks, you can select the topics in each task!

Task One:
Have you got some of these material at home to complete one of these challenges? (Please DO NOT go out to buy material for the experiments, #stayhomesavelives) Try out some of these challenges, send us a photo or video of it and tell us how it went. Maybe you want to master your showmanship by trying out the balloon kebab? or you want to be the next 007 by leaving secret messages with invisible ink?

Task Two:
Thinking about a STEM career? Here are a range of professionals who are sharing their skills and what they do on a daily basis in their jobs. Its free to register, click to find out more!

Task Three:
The PE department has given you a fitness booklet to work on. The challenge from Science is for you is to upload a photo of you exercising and tell us which muscle group you are using. You can doodle on the photo if you want.

Task Four:
We know that you guys are very creative, have you ever heard of stop motion animations? Wallace and Gromit? Pingu? These are just some examples! You can use anything, flowers, action figures or bits of paper. You start by taking a photo, move the objects slightly, take another photo and repeat so that when the photos are played one after another, it looks like your object is moving. The more photos you take, the smoother the animation. We look forward to seeing the amazing videos you will produce. Find the app here: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/stop-motion-studio/id441651297
and here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cateater.stopmotionstudio&hl=en_GB

Maybe you can tell us a story? Say thank you to the NHS?
We look forward to seeing all your creations, send them in!

S3 Chemists

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well and managed to get the work and quiz from Mr Choi completed. We are now moving onto the next part of the Acids and Bases unit. I have added a PowerPoint with tasks to be completed and also a research document on acid rain to both Edmodo and Teams. There is quite a bit of work to be done so this work has to be completed over the next 2 weeks. As always towards the end of the 2 weeks another quiz will be added so that you can assess your knowledge. Please let us know if you need help with anything.

S3 Biologists

Good Morning S3, I hope you all had a lovely long weekend.  This week you should complete the second set of questions added to Edmodo and Teams and submit your answers to your teacher before Friday.  These questions will cover all work from S3 and include some problem solving questions too.  As always, if you are struggling then please message your teacher for help.

S3 Chemists

Good morning all, hope you all had a good weekend. The next quiz for acids has been added to Teams. Make sure you use your notes to help you as you complete it. To revise, you can use the powerpoint, BBC bitesize, Scholar or ask us. This has to be completed by a Thursday as your next set of tasks will be added then.

S3 Biology

Hope you had a nice weekend. Remember this week and next are 4 day weeks (you are off Friday and Monday). Now that you have completed all of unit 3, we would like you to do past paper questions covering unit 3. Past Paper Pack 1 has been posted on Teams. ALL of these questions should be completed by Thursday…..we will put up the answers on Thursday afternoon and you can self mark. REMEMBER – if you need any help, just ask.

S3 Physics

Good afternoon all, hope you are well and keeping safe. We are moving onto new content which you haven’t previously covered in class. The assignment has been posted on Teams and is due for Friday however if you find this tricky, do not worry Mr Savange is available to support you so please feel free to message him if you have any issues. There is also a link to a circuit building game which allows you to build your own circuits and measure the voltage and current at certain points. You will use this in future assignments. Unfortunately there is no Ohmmeter  for measuring the total resistance so you will just have to calculate it.

S3 Chemistry

Hi everyone, we hope you have all being getting on well with the start of the Acids and Bases topic. Well done to all of you who have managed to complete the quiz – some great marks awarded! Please make sure you are asking your teacher for help if you are struggling with anything and also send us photos of the work you have completed so far.

The next weeks work has been added to Teams so please make sure you log in and complete the tasks set. As it is the bank holiday weekend the quiz will be posted on Tuesday next week so please try to have the work completed before then. As always if you have any questions just make sure you ask!

Good luck!
