Language Faculty – Live Lessons Week Beginning 15/01/21

Please note the following Live Lessons/Tutorials will be on offer next week. Where possible we would encourage students to take part.

Monday 15th February.

P1 &2 – Mrs Burton’s 5A1 Higher Class – Live Lesson (Continuing with the ten mark question from the Critical Reading paper which we started on Thursday 11th February).

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO LIVE LESSON FOR MISS MacPHAIL’S N5 Class today, this was an error on the Timetable issued to parents/carers.

P1&2 – National 5 English Tutorial – Mrs Burton’s class. (An opportunity to practise R.U.A.E. skills and ask for help with them.)

Thursday 18th February.

P3 & 4 – Higher English Tutorial – Mrs Burton’s class. ( An opportunity to practise the ten mark question in the Critical Reading paper.)

2.55pm-3.45pm – National 5 English – Tutorial – Miss MacPhail’s 4A1 class. (Further work in preparation for the Practice R.U.A.E.) on Tuesday 23rd February.

Next week all four National 5 classes will be revising Reading for Understanding, Analysis and Evaluation and offering an opportunity for students to practise these skills. Following in from this we are planning an opportunity for pupils to practise RUAE under exam timed conditions on Tuesday 23rd February. Students will have 90 minutes to answer 30 marks worth of questions and submit them to their class teacher. This will be a formative assessment to help students, in collaboration with their teachers, to identify their areas of strength and those they need to work on.

Pupils should choose ONE book from the online book catalogue (attached) and submit their choice via MS Forms (see below). Any issues with the form or any questions should be directed by emailing mjburton@taylor.n-lanark.sch.uk You can also use this email to order your book if that is easier.

Make sure all orders are received by Friday 19th February !

Mrs Burton is running a live lesson tomorrow at 10.50am. She will cover the ten mark question from the Critical Reading paper. If you can please join this live lesson when you will get a chance to practise the ten mark question !

Mrs Nelson’s Higher Class – Tutorial Update

Mrs Nelson will be holding a tutorial on Friday (5th) at 8.55am to discuss chapter 9 of “Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde”. Apologies this was missed from the Live Lesson TT issued last week due to an admin error.

Higher English

Ms MacDonald’s Higher Class will continue with Chapters Six and Seven of Jekyll and Hyde, the PowerPoint is in Files in the General channel. A reminder that a critical essay on”War Photographer” is due for Friday.

Miss MacPhail’s Higher class are continuing their work on “Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” Pupils are starting to work on Chapter Eight and will be practising their analysis and summarising skills.

Mrs Nelson’s class will continue working through “Dr Jekyll and Mr.Hyde”, undertaking tasks on Chapter Nine.
