Rights Respecting School

Our Journey as a UNCRC Rights Respecting School
Over the past year, our school has been proudly working towards achieving the Gold Award as a Rights Respecting School. We are currently a Rights Silver Aware School, which reflects our strong commitment to embedding children’s rights into every aspect of school life.
As a Rights Respecting School, we place the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the heart of everything we do. This means that children’s rights are not just something we learn about—they are something we live by every day. We aim to ensure that every child feels safe, respected, valued, and empowered to have their voice heard.
What this looks like in our school
We actively promote children’s rights in a variety of meaningful and engaging ways:
  • Weekly Assembly Awards – Article 29
  • Lenten Charity Fundraising – Article 24 + 27
  • Symbolised Learning Environments – Article 23
  • Rights-Based Learning Across the Curriculum- Children’s rights are woven into daily learning in all subjects. Whether discussing fairness in history, wellbeing in health lessons, or equality in literacy.
Being a Rights Respecting School supports not only academic learning but also the development of confident, caring, and responsible individuals.
Our pupils learn to respect themselves and others, to speak up for what is right, and to contribute positively to their community.
We are incredibly proud of the progress we have made so far and look forward to continuing our journey towards Gold.
