Junior Sports Leaders (Gold School Sport Award)

St. Stephen’s Primary is proud to hold the Gold School Sport Award, recognising our commitment to providing high-quality physical education, sporting opportunities and active lifestyles for all pupils. Through a wide range of curricular and extracurricular activities, we promote participation, inclusion, achievement and wellbeing, ensuring that every child has opportunities to develop confidence, resilience and teamwork through sport.

A key strength of our sporting provision is our Junior Sports Leaders programme. Our young leaders play an active role in supporting school sport by organising activities, leading games, encouraging participation and acting as positive role models for younger pupils. These leadership opportunities help pupils develop valuable skills in communication, responsibility, teamwork and decision-making while fostering a sense of ownership and contribution within the school community. Together, our Gold School Sport Award and Junior Sports Leaders programme support the aims of Curriculum for Excellence, helping pupils become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors, while promoting lifelong participation in physical activity and wellbeing.
