At St. Stephen’s Primary we are extremely proud of our pupils for their excellent efforts in maintaining our status as one of Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Eco-Schools. We have successfully maintained our ‘Green Flag’ following bi-annual inspections in 2012 and 2014.
Led by our wonderful Eco-Committee the school takes part in and has completed a wide range of work and activities all linked to helping make our word a healthier, happier place and showing that our pupils truly are responsible citizens.
St. Stephen’s was also the only school in Scotland to complete Keep Scotland Beautiful’s 500 Days of Litter Challenge. We received a special certificate for our efforts and our ‘green thumbs-up’ calendar (which we use to monitor the amount of litter collected) was highlighted as a case study of great practise on Keep Scotland Beautiful’s website.
Working with the Fairtrade Committee, we also organise special fun days every year and now host a ‘Don’t Spill A Drop’ race during school sports day to raise money for Water Aid.
