Friday 28th October

This week P5/6 started paired reading activities with P3. They enjoyed listening to the children reading aloud and were very keen to use their own wonderful reading skills to give some helpful advice . We will be working with the children every Wednesday this term .

Friday, 28th of October 2016

This week has been a very busy one in Primary 3!

In Maths we moved on to learning how to carry over when doing addition sums. We started off by using our Place Value knowledge to swap our units for tens, which helped us when we started doing our written sums. We really are a class of Math-magicians!

This week we were also excited to start our Peer Reading with Primary 5/6. We enjoyed reading our stories to our buddies and answering the comprehension questions they came up with. We are looking forward to continuing this each week.

Finally, today we had fun listening to the story behind the Religious festival of Diwali, which we now know means Festival of Light. This gave us the idea to create our own special Diwali lanterns.

We hope all of our students who are celebrating Diwali this weekend have a lovely time!

We are very excited for our Halloween party on Monday afternoon and cannot wait to see each others costumes!

Friday 28th October

Hello from Primary 6/7

I hope everyone had a relaxing and peaceful October break.

This week we were lucky enough to be visited by the Take Away theatre company where they put on a very interesting worthwhile production to highlight he issue of bullying. We were then given the opportunity to take part in a workshop afterwards with pupils from Bargeddie Primary. The actors were fantastic and really portrayed the issue of bullying well. We all really enjoyed it and I think everyone took something away from it.

A number of children from Primary 6/7 alongside other children in different stages attended a football festival on Thursday at St Ambrose High school. The boys won 3 out of 5 of their games including drawing a game and the girls played excellently in winning 5 of their games and drawing 1. All children were highly praised not only for their talent on the football pitch but also for their excellent manners and sportsmanship. You all represented St Kevin’s Primary very well, well done boys and girls.

Friday 28th October 2016

Primary One have worked very hard this week to meet taught writing targets and wrote a spooky story about a scary witch!

The children are remembering to keep their letters on the line and use finger spaces to keep handwriting neat.

St. Kevin’s has magically become very spooky over the last few days and Primary One created their very own Halloween Pumpkins. The children demonstrated excellent listening skills during this task and are really looking forward to scaring family and friends over the next few days!

Well done, Primary One!😀👻👻👻

Primary two – 28th October

Hello from Primary two

This week the children have enjoyed creating their own narrative genres. They have been learning how to include core and compositional targets in their writing.  After writing up their plan in note form  they transferred their events into a sequenced storyline. imageimage image image image image image

Friday 14th October

Hello from Primary 6/7,

its been a very busy week in Primary 6/7. On Tuesday we, along with Primary 5/6 attended Summerlee Heritage Site for our school trip in relation to our topic, Scotland. This trip allowed us to learn more about Scottish mining and how these workers lived all of this years ago. We journeyed down a make shift mine and explored houses which represented the different decades and how people lived in those times. It was incredibly interesting and we all learnt a lot.

In the afternoon we attended a weaving workshop where we learned about the production of tartan. We even were given the opportunity to do some weaving ourselves. We had a great trip and are looking forward to putting what we have learned into practice.
