This week Primary 5/6 have enjoyed learning about data handling .We have learned how to successfully gather information using tally marks  and how  to successfully interpret data from a variety of different types of graphs and charts . We are looking forward to carrying out our own surveys next week  to see if we can successfully apply our knowledge to display our findings  .

In our Vikings topic we enjoyed learning about how the Vikings travelled on longboats and used shields to defend themselves .  We learned that a Viking shield was made from wood and was usually about 80-90cms in diameter. We enjoyed learning about the Viking raids on Lindsfarne .

LIndsfarne is a small island off the North east coast of England . It is also know as the Holy Island. It was founded in the7th century by St Aidan . LIndisfarne was one of the first places in Britain to be attacked by Viking raiders . In 793AD Viking raiders attacked the monastery at Lindsfarne . They killed several of the monks , set fire to building and stole many valuable items .

In class we thoroughly enjoyed designing and creating our own Viking shields just like the ones which might have been used at Lindsfarne .
