This week we are looking at science and in particular DNA! Here is your daily plan. Please read it on glow as it carefully goes through each activity step by step. All  resources can be found on glow.

Science

Look at DNA sheets one and two. You will learn a little about DNA and why it is important.

Watch the video D-N-A sung science on you tube.

Now make a mind map all about what you have learned so far about DNA.

Maths- Money sheets one, two and three. These activities are all about safety with money and the consideration of spending money- all sheets are on glow.

There are daily fast finishing tasks available on glow.

Miss Kiernan’s Tuesday Stem Challenge

Hi All

I hope you had a great weekend and are all well!

Today I have set an outdoor nature walk scavenger hunt. When you are out today for your exercise see if you can find as many things as you can from the activity sheet I’ve put into Miss Kiernan’s challenge folder. See if you can get five in a row! I’d love to see some pictures of what you have found on your scavenger hunt today.

Tuesday 12^th May

LITERACY

1. Spelling – Group 1 –Find your words for today and write them out, then write a sentence using each of your spelling words. Group 2 – Find today’s words on your grid. Write them using rainbow spelling.

2. Reading

Listen to the first two clips of Dianne reading ‘Tell Me No Lies.’ Think about the character of Gemma as you listen, what do you think of her? Scroll down to Practise. Read extract 1 and then look at Activity 1. You are being asked to make 4 points about Gemma’s character and then say which part of the story tells you that. Don’t worry if you don’t have a quotation from the videos, a description is enough.

Listen to the first two videos telling the story of Dindy and the Elephant. Scroll down to Practise and read extract 1. You are not going to do Activity 1, instead I would like you to tell me 3 things you learned about the character of Pog and 3 things you have learned about the character of Dindy.

MATHS

3. Pie Charts (All) – Time to revise Pie Charts, we looked at these before Christmas. Visit this link and watch the clip: https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/maths-ks2-pie-and-pie-again-pie-charts/zbbhf4j

Try the task in the Maths section of Glow called ‘Pie Charts 12.05.20’. Remember the pie chart includes the choices of 16 children. So each slice of the pie represents one child. Let me know how you get on and I will post the answers at the end of the day!

SPANISH

4. I have created a Spanish folder in the Topic area of Glow. I have put a PowerPoint for you read over to practise your colours. Then there is a task called ‘Spanish umbrella 07.05.20’. You need to draw an umbrella like the one on the sheet, then look at the numbers in Spanish and colour each section in. It tells you what colour each number represents on the sheet. It will make sense when you look at it I hope!

9.00 – 10.35: LITERACY
09:10-09:30 Spelling (ALL)
– Choose a fun spelling task and write today’s words in this way.

09:30 – 10:35: Solar System Fact Hunt (ALL)
– There is a folder in the Literacy section called Solar System Fact Hunt. There are fact cards and a worksheet with questions for you to answer. Read the fact cards and then answer the questions on the worksheet. You might need to do further research to find the answers. Good luck!

10:50-12:30: NUMERACY
Mental Maths (ALL)
– Open the folder called ‘Mental Maths’ within the Numeracy section of our Glow page. Complete Tuesday of ‘11.05.20 Mental maths’.
– Practise the 6 and 7 times table.

Squares
– Today we are going to do some revision of percentages. Open the ‘Squares’ folder within the Numeracy section of Glow. Open the folder named ‘Fractions, decimals and percentages’ and complete the exercise called ‘Percentages task 2 12.05.20’. You might find it helpful to have a look at the ‘Fractions, decimals and percentages poster’ within this folder to help and remind you.

Triangles
– Open the ‘Triangles’ folder within the Numeracy section of Glow. Open the folder named ‘Addition and subtraction’ and complete the exercise called ‘Subtraction in tens 12.05.20’.

Circles
– Open ‘Circles’ folder within the Numeracy section of Glow. Go to folder named ‘Addition and subtraction’. Complete the exercise called ‘Chimney subtraction 2 12.05.20’.

R.E. (ALL)
– Today I would like you to do some research about Our Lady. It might be easier to do this like a visualiser or you can bullet point if you would prefer. Find out as much about Our Lady as you can and once you are finished you can draw a nice picture of Mary, decorating it nicely. Send me these and the rest of your work today on Dojo! I would love to see your great work!
