Good morning children!
I hope you are well and managed to enjoy some of the sunshine yesterday. Thank you to those who kept in touch yesterday, some fabulous work going on there. For those who I haven’t heard from, I can’t stress enough how important it is that you get in touch. Please do this today.
Here is the plan for today…

Thursday 21st May

We are doing a nice task based on all the reading we have done this week, then more Sumdog! This is the last day of the North Lanarkshire competition, it ends at 8pm. Let’s make it count P6! You can do it. If you get all of that done, there is some P.E. in the afternoon.
I am here if you need anything or have any worries at all!
Have a great day everyone 💛🌈

Be Kind To Yourself 21.5.20

Good morning everyone.

As we are off tomorrow, today is our last focus day for Mental Health Awareness Week. The task I have for you to do today is a very simple one; be kind to yourself! You are all working really hard and should be very proud of yourselves.

There are new tasks in today’s Health and Wellbeing folder, including a fun alphabet fitness task and an activity sheet outlining ways we can be kind to ourselves.

1. P.E. Lesson

4. Health Focus – Be Kind To Yourself

A new building challenge will also go up on ClassDojo later this afternoon, so look out for that and remember to send any photos or share them on your class Glow page.

Have a lovely day everyone and remember, be kind to yourself!

Primary 3 Thursday 21st May

Good morning everyone,

I hope you are all well. I have today’s daily plan. Today’s literacy focus is story writing- can you write an imaginative story using one of the story prompts on Glow? In class, we were practising reading over our own work to make sure we included punctuation. I am looking forward to reading all of your fabulous stories!

Today’s main numeracy task is Sumdog. As tomorrow is a Bank Holiday and we will not be doing online learning, today is the last day of the North Lanarkshire Sumdog competition. We need at least 10 players per class to join in on the competition. It would be super if everyone could make a big effort to log into Sumdog today.

Today is also Ascension Thursday- a day when the school would usually go to Mass. The Bishop is streaming a live Mass at 11am. This is in the daily plan.

Thursday 21.05.20

I hope everyone has an amazing day. Don’t forget to send me a picture of your work today.

Miss McLaughlin 🙂

P6b Daily Plan – Thursday 21.05.20

Good morning P6!
Here is the suggested plan for today.🙂

9.00 – 10.35: LITERACY
09:10-09:30 Spelling (ALL)

– Write your words 3 times and write a sentence using your spelling words and other ambitious words.

09:30- 10:35: Writing (ALL)
– Today for our writing we are going to write a report on the Moon. You have taken lots of different notes and information down about the Moon over the past few weeks. We have learned about the Phases of the Moon, solar eclipses, the Apollo Space Program and lots more. It is completely up to you what information you choose to include in your report.

Remember, a report should have:

– A title.
– An introductory paragraph informing the reader what the report is about.
– Use of sub-headings.
– Include appropriate pictures for additional information.
– Include topic specific vocabulary.

Remember your core targets!

11-12:30:
R.E. (ALL):

– Today is the Feast of the Ascension and the Bishop will be celebrating a live-streamed Mass at 11am for the schools in the Diocese. This is a day when we would all normally attend Mass so it is an appropriate day to pray for everyone during this time of disruption and uncertainty.
You should be able to watch through this link:
https://www.facebook.com/rcmotherwell/
The video will be live-streamed through Facebook at 11am, therefore, no video will be available before this time but should be available afterwards.

Mental Maths (ALL):
– Open the folder called ‘Mental Maths’ within the Numeracy section of our Glow page. Complete Thursday of ‘18.05.20 Mental maths 2’.

Sumdog (ALL):
– Go onto Sumdog and complete the North Lanarkshire Math Challenge which ends at 8pm tonight!
Let’s try and get onto the leader board and win! Come onnnn!
We still need more players (at least 10) to reach the leader board! I know you can do it! Good luck!

1.15 – 3.00:

Topic (ALL):
– Start creating your model today if you haven’t already. Take pictures at each stage of making your model to look back on. I can’t wait to see them!

If you have any questions please send me a dojo and I will do my best to help. Keep up the great work!
Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend!
Miss Doyle 🙂

P5 Daily Plan -Thursday 21st May

Good morning boys and girls. Here is today’s plan, as always you will find all of the resources you need on Glow and on the Dojo class story.

Comprehension – The Ascension

  • Open the Literacy folder on Glow and click on Comprehension.
  • Open the document called Ascension Comprehension.
  • Today’s passage is about the Ascension of Jesus.
  • Read the passage carefully and answer the questions in full sentences.
  • Today is the feast of the Ascension. If we were at school we would be going to mass together so you could try to watch a video of the mass online from your local Parish.

Writing

  • Your task today is to write a newspaper report about the Ascension of Jesus.
  • Open the writing folder on Glow and you will find two templates to choose from. If you are printing you can write straight onto the sheet. If not the templates will remind you of the layout of a newspaper report.
  • First of all you will need a catchy title to draw attention to your report.
  • Next you need to tell the story of what happened that day.
  • You could include some eye witness statements from people who were there.
  • If you have a newspaper at home have a look at some examples of newspaper reports to give you ideas, you will find examples online too.
  • I will be choosing Star Writers today so remember to send me your work when you are finished!

Maths

Mental Maths – Thursday’s questions are in the folder on Glow.

Sumdog

The Sumdog competition is running until the 21st May so remember to join in.

Espresso – Geometry – Position and Direction

  • Login to Espresso, click Second Level and then click on Geometry – Position and Direction Lower, it is in the middle of the page.
  • Watch the video called translating points.
  • In Activities try the translating points task.
  • In the printable resources open the translating points worksheet. You can print it off or write your answers on a sheet of paper. There is also a copy of the worksheet in the maths folder on Glow and on the class story on Dojo.

Art

  • This week we are looking at Pop Art with a Scottish theme.
  • In the art folder on Glow here is a powerpoint called Scottish Words Pop Art. This gives you a step by step guide of how to create Scottish words using paint and different coloured paper.
  • If you don’t have paint and coloured paper you could just draw and colour your own design using the pictures on the slides as a guide.
  • You could also use a drawing tool on your computer to make one instead of doing it on paper if you prefer.
  • You might need to research some good Scottish words to use for your art work before you start, there are lots to choose from!

P.E.

Make sure you are getting some exercise each day.

Mrs MacLean and Miss Kiernan’s Glow Folders

Remember to have a look in Mrs MacLean and Miss Kiernan’s folders for some more fun tasks to do.

Have a great day and remember this weekend is a holiday so I will see you back online next week. Have fun and stay safe!

Miss Connor

P2 20th May

Good morning everyone! I hope you are all well today. I have uploaded the plan for this week’s Wonderful Wednesday to Glow and Dojo. It looks a bit different today as Mrs Carlin and I are trying out a virtual classroom. When you open today’s file your instructions will be on the whiteboard and if you click on me, you should get a video message from me. The video might take a few seconds to load but it should work! If you have any problems please let me know and please continue to check in and say hello as usual.

Have a great everyone and try to spend some time outdoors too while we have some sunshine!

Take care,
Miss Duffy
