Primary 1 Homework Week Beginning 23rd November

Hello everyone😁!

I would like to start by saying a big well done to all of you for taking part in last week’s North Lanarkshire Sumdog contest! You all worked so hard and tried your very best.

774 classes took part and our class finished in 116th place!🏆

Amazing effort boys and girls! I am so proud of you all!👏

I would also like to say a special congratulations to Adam who was our class champion!👏⭐

This week your child has been set tasks for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night. To keep us all safe, we have decided that all completed work should be kept at home (until further notice). Please remember to send back the clear zippy wallet empty on Tuesday and return your reading book on Thursday.

Could you please encourage your child to practise their reading book each night. 📖

Literacy

Letter sound- b 🦇

Practise saying the ‘b’ sound. Listen to the ‘b Jolly Phonics song. Sing the song whilst doing the action.

Go on a sound hunt around your house looking for objects that begin with the sound ‘b’. Can you think of any other words that begin with ‘b’?

Complete letter ‘b’ formation worksheet.

Maths

Addition

We have learned all of the addition facts for  2, 3, 4 and 5. Children are encouraged to memorise these facts for rapid random recall.

Use practical materials at home to show all the  different ways to make 2, 3, 4 and 5. You could use pegs, toy cars, playdough or playing cards.

Remember Jack Hartmann is always there to help if you get stuck. Just search Number Bonds for 2, 3, 4 and 5.

  1. Use your word tin to practise your common words. When you look at each word, read the word and then spell it out loud.
  2. Can you think of a sentence for each of your common words this week? Tell an adult your sentences and see if they can spot which common word you have used in each sentence.
  3. Choose a task of your choice from the menu below, to help you practise this week’s common words. Have fun!

Primary 3 Homework – w.b. 23/11

Good afternoon boys and girls, please find this weeks homework tasks below.

Monday – Red and Blue group – the phoneme “th” wordlist e.g. this, that, then making the sound “the”.  Be careful with is phoneme.  The video below explains the two different phoneme sounds that “th” makes.

Green group – the phoneme “oa” wordlist – remember our rhyme “goat in a boat”.

Tuesday – Common words – choose a fun way to practise your words – you could do rainbow spelling, pyramid spelling, UPPERCASE/lowercase, fancy spelling, foam, pasta or plasticine.

Red & Blue group – spring, sunny, those, home

Green group – make, all, came

Wednesday – Sumdog maths challenge.

Reading every night.

Please remember to return your books on Friday to be quarantined for the following week.

Primary 7 – Week Beginning 23/11/20

Hello Primary 7

Your Homework this week has 3 parts,

  1. This week we are looking at these common words. Your word list is – alliteration, neighbour, happened, during, conclusion, announcing, opposite, imagine, energy and competition. Write these words in alphabetical order, alliteration comes first, then write the letters for each word in alphabetical order ‘alliteration’ would be written as ‘aaeiillnortt.’
  2. This week we will be learning about the Moon and satellites, write a short description of what the Earth would be like if we had no Moon. How would it affect the tides, the wildlife, the plant-life and humanity?
  3. Calculate the area of these shapes.

Hello Primary 7

Your Homework this week has 3 parts,

  1. This week we are looking at the phoneme ‘dge’. Your word list is – edge, fudge, bridge, smudge, fridge, nudge, pledge, judge, and ledge. Practice these words in any way that you choose and then see if you can list 6 more.
  2. This week we will be learning about Apollo 11, but I want you to find out about Apollo 13.
  3. This week we are taking part in the North Lanarkshire Sumdog competition. Log in and score us some points!!

North Lanarkshire Maths Contest

This week we are taking part in Sumdog’s North Lanarkshire Maths Contest. It finishes on Thursday 19th of November at 8pm. It would be great if you could encourage your child to play along as part of their homework this week. Remind them to take their time and think about the question before they press their answer. Points are based on accuracy. It will be great if all of the pupils in Primary 1 take part. Let’s see if we can get St Barbara’s on the leaderboard.
