What’s on this Week?

Last week there was a whole school focus on all things financial with classes across the school engaged in workshops and lessons around financial education.  There were many important life skills being addressed at all stages with children developing a growing awareness of the cost of living and managing a budget.  This week our whole school focus is in line with two national awareness raising events.  Safer Internet Week and Children’s Mental Health Week.  Assemblies and lessons will have a clear focus on the  importance of looking after our body and mind and learning about how to stay safe online.

Pr.5 and 6 Business Workshop

The Primary 5 and Primary 6 pupils from Rooms 7, 13 and 16 were putting their entrepreneurial skills to the test today. They had to create their own Scottish brand and products and manage their own money. The winning team for the ‘most profit’ was Thistle Industries and ‘best teamwork’ was The Scottys! 👏They had lots of fun and Mrs Docherty, Mrs Llaza and Miss Devoy were so impressed with their creations, teamwork and enthusiasm!

Compliments in P7

It was time for classmates to share compliments for this young lady.  Lots of lovely comments made and it was very evident she is well thought of.  Giving and receiving compliments has become an important part of our class culture  – we really are a great bunch.

High School Transition for P7

Primary 7 spent some time with Mrs Barrie from St Ambrose High School today as part of their transition to high school later this year.  The children were able to ask questions on anything that was worrying them and found out more about the type of work they would be doing when they get there.  We have lots of excited children but we know we still have a lot of work to do before we get there.

Financial Education in P7

Primary 7 worked with Shelly from Money Advice Scotland earlier this week where they learned the importance of managing money when it comes to household bills.  The boys and girls looked at running costs for a house and were really surprised at how expensive things were.  We hope they shared some of their money saving learning with you when they came home.
