Well done to Room 12 who won Best Line Award this week.
Our New House Captains
We are delighted to announce our new House Captains who will be in office until the end of the year. We are confident they will represent their houses well.
The standard of candidates was exceptionally high so everyone who put themselves forward should be very proud of themselves. You were outstanding boys and girls.

What’s on this Week?
Last week was our financial education week. We enjoyed visits by Money Adivce Scotland and HMRC. North Lanarkshire’s Financial Inclusion Team also visited the school a few weeks ago. We are confident the children have a much more informed knowledge about how to manage money and just how challenging it must be to manage the family budget. We are quite sure Money Saving Expert, Martin Lewis, would be most impressed with the work undertaken across the school to teach necessary life skills. Our twitter page also has lots of featured news about the wonderful learning that took place last week. Please check our twitter page. This week we will have a focus on Safer Internet. Classes across the school will focus upon teacing children about how to stay safe online – another important life skill. This week we will also receive a visit from NSPCC who will deliver assemblies and carry out workshops with Pr. 6 and 7 pupils. Another busy week at St.Augustine’s!!

Financial Education Week
These P7 pupils were given a challenge today to pick a holiday destination of their choice. They were to source flights and accommodation for their group. There was a buzz in the classroom as destinations like Hawaii, Disneyland Paris, Poland, Ibiza and New York were discussed. At one point Mrs Drummond was asked if she wanted to go to Barbados!
After destinations were chosen, pupils looked for the best deal for foreign currency. They found out the currency of where they were going and decided on how much spending money they would take. Pocket money has certainly increased these days as figures like £10000 were quoted. Superb team work demonstrated today #mathsincontext #financialeducation #whenigrowupiwanttobeatravelagent
