Mass at Carfin
Our Pr7 pupils did an excellent job of representing the school community at Friday’s Year of Mercy Mass at Carfin Grotto. It was a splendid occasion and one to remember as Pr. 7 pupils and secondary pupils from across the Diocese of Motherwell joined together for a concelebrated Holy Mass lead by Bishop Toal. Our film slide below captures images from a lovely day shared with our fantastic Pr.7 pupils.

House Captain/ Vice Captain Announcement
Congratulations to our successful House Captains and Vice Captains. I am sure they will be fine ambassadors for the school in the months head.
ELECTION FEVER
The boys and girls of Pr.7 really demonstrated their skills of persuasion as they presented their speeches and manifestos to their classmates this week. All candidates were eager to demonstrate they had the qualities that would make them ideal House Captains and Vice Captains and that they could be trusted to lead by example and to be ambassadors of the school. Tough decisions. Look out for the announcement in regard of who were successfully elected. It was great to see so many children putting themselves forward for election. Well done boys and girls!

Active Maths in Primary 1
Primary one have been very busy since they began school last week. They have been learning about all of the characters in Magic Land, Toy Land and Dinosaur Land and have been learning to count with them.
Some of the Active Maths games they have been playing are; Number line Jigsaws, Magic Numbers, Bowling, Action Cards and making dinner for the characters in our very own class Counting Castle! They have had lots of great fun learning.
Primary one have also been introduced to our Numicon Maths Resource. They used our Numicon Number Lines to make their own number lines using the numicon shapes, this helped them to count independenty along the number line.
A very busy first week in Primary One!
Parent Council /PTA Meeting
Please note the first Parent Council and PTA Meeting will take place on Wednesday 31st August and not the 24th as previously advertised in the newsletter last week.

New sessions for budding young footballers are being launched next week by North Lanarkshire Leisure.
The hour long lessons, for boys and girls aged 18 months to 12 years old, focus on team play, co-ordination, passing, shooting and game time.
Nicky Laughlin, Football Programme Co-ordinator with NL Leisure said: “Play time means football for loads of youngsters and we have designed lessons to help them develop their talents.
“Our lessons boost youngsters’ confidence, teach them the rules, improve fitness and make new friends.
“We have top quality 3g pitches and indoor sports halls which provide a safe and fun place for kids to learn.
“Parents are welcome to come along and watch their kids, and our training is designed to ensure everyone learns and improves.”
The soccer schools are running at Airdrie Leisure Centre, Birkenshaw Sports Hall, Broadwood, Iain Nicolson Centre, Kirkwood Sports Barn, Ravenscraig, Shotts Leisure Centre and St Ambrose HS.
