Sponsored Walk
Wow 10,000 steps earned while doing our sponsored walk. Well done boys and girls!!
Creating a rain gauge
The boys and girls in Room 12 have been working very hard to design and create a rain gauge this week. First of all, they worked in cooperative groups to design a piece of equipment which was water proof, recycled and wind proof and able to measure rainfall. They then used these design plans to create the rain gauges. They used recycled 2 litre plastic bottles, with stones at the bottom to make sure the gauges didn’t fly away in the wind. Then they added jelly to make sure the gauge was very level and to give it a more accurate reading. Now everyone is patiently waiting on the jelly to set before carefully putting the rain gauges outside around the school. The clas will check the rain measurements every day, and compare the rainfall in Coatbridge to the rainfall in the Amazon rainforest. I am sure this will prove to be a very interesting investigation. Great work boys and girls of Room 12.

Parental Engagement Survey
North Lanarkshire Council’s Parental Engagement Strategy is currently being revised.
As well as reviewing the practice since the introduction of the Parental Involvement Act 2006, the revised strategy will draw on schools’ current and intended relationship with parents.
The recently published Education Scotland Act 2016 and the HGIOS4 both contain dedicated sections which emphasise the need for schools and parents to work effectively to enhance pupil progress and school improvement.
North Lanarkshire have created a survey for parents which can be accessed by clicking on the following link (before Friday 30th September).
