Here is our gallery of achievement for September with pictures that include children who received awards as Writers of the Month, Maths Stars of the Month and Artists of the Month. Our slide show also includes Pupil of the Week Awards, Marvellous Manners Awards and Good Citizen Awards. Well done boys and girls!!
Our very enterprising children in Room 3 ran a healthy living café as part of their focus during Health Week. They had already visited Scotmid to stock up on a wide variety of produce then got to work making fruit kebabs for their visitors to the Café. The boys and girls of Room 1 and 2 said they were fab!! Great work boys and girls, you really are a credit to Miss Ross.
As part of our health week Room 10 pupils have had a focus on Road Safety. They have also been working on creating eye catching posters with a strong logo in order to make entries for the Road Safety Competition.
Many thanks to Lysney from St.Andrew’s Hospice for delivering talks across the school yesterday about the work of the Hospice and the importance of healthy eating.
As part of Health Week the wonderful children of Room 3 are busy this week creating their own healthy cafe. They set off today to visit Scotmid to purchase all their shopping. We look forward to seeing the cafe in operation tomorrow.
Many of our classes enjoyed taster sessions today as part of our health week which has a focus on promoting a variety of activities and raising pupil awareness of clubs in the locality. During P.E. slots children, under the guidance of a Tae Kwon Do instructor, participated in a wide variety of moves . As you can see from the slideshow below they all enjoyed the experience.
Today was a pretty action packed day as the children enjoyed a mini olympics in the school hall and some classes had visits from Boots Pharmacy.
Many thanks to Father Kane and Sister Eileen for their time and patience on Friday as they took the Pr.1 children on a walk around the church and discussed all the features of the church, visited the sacristy, learned all about the different vestments and said a few prayers.
This week is Health Week with a packed timetable for the whole school. All of the timetabled slots for P.E. have been filled with visiting specialists who will be delivering taster sessions such as Tae Kwon Do and basketball. Vikki Sadler our active sports co-ordinator will be running a mini olympics for our Pr.1 – 3 pupils. Visiting specialists will work with a variety of classes across the school and include Scotmid, Specsavers, Heartstart training, Dogs Trust, Action for Safe Play, NL I Can Cook. Pupils from St.Ambrose will also be supporting and leading some of this weeks activities. Many of our visitors will start the beginning of our focus on Heartstart across the school and the development of our Focus on Food programme. Please remind children to bring their P.E kit to school everyday. Many thanks to Miss Ross for her great work in organising such a packed week of activities and learning opportunities.
