Primary 5/6 were celebrating Burns Day on the 25th of January 2018. They learned all about Robert Burns and finished off the day with some Shortbread and Irn-bru.

What’s on This Week?
Sunday was the launch of Catholic Education Week. This year’s theme is Serving the Common Good. Many thanks to the boys and girls who attended Mass this weekend as representatives of the school.
This week is also a focus week for Financial Education. All classes across the school will be learning about the importance of how best to manage their money. We are delighted that staff from HMRC will carry out workshops with classes focusing upon tax and finance. On Monday we will also welcome Enteprise is Business who will work with several classes on developing entrepreneurial skills. Please review your child’s Snapshot Jotters when they are sent home at the end of this week. Your comments are greatly valued.

Monthly Awards Assembly
The whole school met on Friday for our monthly awards assembly. Our wonderful House Captains completed their term in office by leading this assembly and boy have they set the bar high. Our candidates are busy preparing their manifestos as we speak. Stay tuned for our new recruits.
Well done award winners – we had writers of the month, artists of the month and maths stars of the month. I hear it was a tough choice boys and girls. Keep up the great work everyone.

Developing the Young Workforce through STEM in P6/7 and P7

Primary 6/7 and Primary 7 would like to thank Joe Reilly for coming to see us on Friday to tell us all about engineering and to help us with our Scottish Engineering Projects. We learned how it’s really important to keep safe. Thanks Joe for answering all our questions, we really appreciate it.
Measuring Area in Primary 2
Room 3 have been busy learning about measuring area. Look at the concentration on their faces. Successful learners boys and girls.
Burns Assembly P6/7 and P7
Our Primary 6/7 and Primary 7 pupils held a Burns Assembly today for their family and friends where they shared their learning of the famous Scotsman Robert Burns. Pupils read some of his poems before being joined by their family members to sing a lovely version of Auld Lang Syne.
Our afternoon came to a close with some refreshments and a delicious plate of haggis, neeps and tatties followed by shortbread made by our amazing kitchen staff. All in all a lovely afternoon was had by all. Thanks once again for your support.
Gymnastics Success for Team St Augustine’s
Our gymnasts attended Airdrie Academy today to compete in a championship event. Some of our very talented team won Gold and were delighted to show off their medals. Well done everyone we are very proud of you indeed.
