What’s on this Week?

Please ensure you have checked your child’s school bag and that you have received a copy of our final newlsetter for this school session.  It is packed full of information and dates for your diary.  Dates of retreats for Pr.3, 4,  6 and 7  were only finalised on Friday  and were included in the Parish Bulletin on Sunday.  Many thanks to Father Kane and our fabulous PTA who are funding the day for all pupils at either the Parish Centre or Carfin Grotto (Pr.4).  Our retreats are now an established feature of our school calendar and are greatly enjoyed by all pupils and staff.  Please note our first group of Pr. 4 pupils will receive the Sacrament of First Communion on Sunday 6th May 10.00am.  We keep all our Pr. 4 pupils in our prayers as they prepare to receive this Sacrament.  Please remember Monday 7th May is a Bank Holiday and the school will closed that day.  Tuesday 8th May is an in-service day for staff and children do not attend school on that day.

Monthly Awards Assembly

Our whole school assembly was a great opportunity to share the successful month we had here at St Augustine’s.  We kicked things off today with our dance troupe sharing their dance in front of the whole school.

After we all congratulated their efforts our house captains shared all our important announcements and awarded our maths, literacy and artists of the month. Well done to our award winners.

Government Consultation

As part of the Scottish Government’s drive to give children the best start in life, improve health outcomes and tackle inequality, a consultation has been opened to inform the development of an effective and proportionate Welfare Foods package for Scotland that reaches the right children at the right time, makes it easier for families to make healthier choices, improves delivery and makes best use of resources. This consultation is asking for views on how best to take forward powers to better meet the needs of children and families in Scotland. Welfare Foods includes the current UK Healthy Start Vouchers and Nursery Milk Scheme. Closing date is 28th June 2018
