Many of our classes enjoyed taster sessions today as part of our health week which has a focus on promoting a variety of activities and raising pupil awareness of clubs in the locality. During P.E. slots children, under the guidance of a Tae Kwon Do instructor, participated in a wide variety of moves . As you can see from the slideshow below they all enjoyed the experience.

Macmillan Tea and Coffee Morning
Congratulations to Mrs. Allison’s wonderful group of Pr.7 pupils who lead, organised and managed a very successful morning. The children did a wonderful job of presenting a powerpoint about the role of Macmillan nurses and also presented a very entertaining sketch that gave our talented pupils an opportunity to show off their drama skills. The variety of cakes on display was a great testament to the very talented bakers we have at St.Augustine’s. Mary Berry eat your heart out! The morning raised the astonishing sum of £510.67. A huge big thank you to everyone for your support on the day and for the mouthwatering cakes.

Peer Mediation Training
Primary 7 attended peer mediation training last week where they learned how to become a better friend, developed new skills in effective communication, self-control, problem solving and understanding. They competed their two day training by acting out scenarios to put their new skills into practice. We look forward to seeing our peer mediators in action. Pr.7 at the ICT Suite
Primary 7 have been very busy researching their Scottish island in ICT. It demonstrated a great use of search criteria and judgement of reliable sources. Fantastic collaboration was demonstrated. Well done room 8 pupils.
Mass at Carfin
Our Pr7 pupils did an excellent job of representing the school community at Friday’s Year of Mercy Mass at Carfin Grotto. It was a splendid occasion and one to remember as Pr. 7 pupils and secondary pupils from across the Diocese of Motherwell joined together for a concelebrated Holy Mass lead by Bishop Toal. Year of Mercy Mass
Our Pr.7 pupils will leave tomorrow morning to attend Holy Mass at Carfin Grotto with over 4,000 children in attendance from across the diocese. Our fingers are crossed that it stays dry and the sun shines.
House Captain/ Vice Captain Announcement
Congratulations to our successful House Captains and Vice Captains. I am sure they will be fine ambassadors for the school in the months head.
ELECTION FEVER
The boys and girls of Pr.7 really demonstrated their skills of persuasion as they presented their speeches and manifestos to their classmates this week. All candidates were eager to demonstrate they had the qualities that would make them ideal House Captains and Vice Captains and that they could be trusted to lead by example and to be ambassadors of the school. Tough decisions. Look out for the announcement in regard of who were successfully elected. It was great to see so many children putting themselves forward for election. Well done boys and girls!
