For science this term, Room 10 have been focussing on life cycles as they prepare for the arrival of their baby chicks in two weeks time. The boys and girls became budding scientists last week as they took part in several egg-cellent egg-xperiments! First, they decided to investigate the strength of an egg shell by carefully balancing books on top of four delicate shells. The children could not believe their eyes as the eggs were strong enough to hold more than twenty, heavy books before cracking! They have also started an experiment which will investigate what happens when a raw egg is left in vinegar over the weekend. Each group has predicted a different result, it will be very interesting to see who is correct!

Cookery Afterschool Club
Our Cookery Afterschool Club is growing from strength to strength and the food smells delicious. The children have been learning how to cut food safely using the bridge and claw method. So we are happy to report no kitchen accidents. Here are a few pictures of our young chefs at work.
Literacy Assembly Pr. 4 – 7
On Friday we continued our celebration of World Book Day. After our attendance at First Friday Mass the boys and girls changed into their costumes that were based upon characters from the world of fiction. It really was fantastic to see such a great response from pupils across the school. Our Friday morning assembly involved the pupils of Pr. 4 – 7 who listened to a recap of the weeks events and then had a parade in their costumes. We look forward to next week when the boys and girls across the school share the books they have written themselves in class. We also have timetabled slots to visit the book fair. A busy week ahead as always at St.Augustine’s. As son as we have pictures of the Pr.1 – 3 assembly we will post them on the blog.
Cooking Club

Room 10 Vikings!!
The boys and girls of Room 10 have been very busy this term learning all about the Vikings. Their homework project set a challenge that involved designing and creating a model Viking longship. As you can see they took up the challenge and were desperate to share their work with the pupils of Room 12. Great work boys and girls!!
Room 10 and the Vikings
Room 10 have been enjoying their new topic, the Vikings, this week. They have lots of questions about the Vikings and are very eager to learn lots about life as a raider! The boys and girls learned that the Vikings travelled from Scandinavia on a longship, which inspired them to work together to create their own. Room 10 can’t wait to show off the finished longship, and share all their learning.
