Our Infant Communication Team learned about the work of Rabbie Burns. They made information posters and treated the infant classes to a rendition My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose. Here is their slide show and hopefully we have managed to upload a short video clip. The upload is upside down (I couldn’t change it) so apologies if you are trying to view on a laptop.
Congratulations to our Pr. 7 pupils who are involved in paired reading with our Pr.2 pupils. It is proving to be a highlight of the week for both sets of pupils. Below is a slideshow of our pupils busy at work. Our Pr.6 pupils are also showing their credentials as resinsible citizens as they are involved in paired reading with Pr. 1 pupils every Tuesday afternoon. Great work boys and girls. You are a credit to the school.
Our Infant Communcations Team were busy at work during their committee meeting making posters about their up and coming Christmas Party. One of our committee members also interviewed some of the stars of our Nativity ‘Census Sums’. Great work boys and girls! Check out our picture gallery and interview.
Last Friday the Infant Department was packed out as the boys and girls of Room 1,2 and 3 played host to parents and grandparents for St.Andrew’s Day. The boys and girls entertained with song and shared their learning with their parents. Traditional Scottish fair was on offer with everyone tucking into a plate a haggis, neeps and tatties. A delightful afternoon was shared by everyone.
Our young entrepreneurs in Room 3 have got to work early in preparation for our forthcomng Christmas Fair on the 3rd of December. Everything looks delicious!!
Last week Primary one and two went on a Winter Walk exploring their senses. It was an extremely cold morning and they had to wrap up well wearing hat scarves and gloves. They saw many signs of Winter and even saw some ice and snow over the ground. Some children even seen some snow on the way to school that morning! They explored their sense of smell through the crisp air, their sense of touch by feeling the frost on the ground and the damp leaves along the garden. They felt the bark on the trees and saw many fallen braches on the ground. They also felt their own cold noses and red cheeks and those of their friends!
They investigated the changes in the season and discussed what we could do to protect our garden and raised beds throughout the winter.
They all headed in doors to challenge our taste buds by sampling some spices such as; cinnamon and ginger, cinnamon was very popular.
Room 3 then got to work writing about their adventure in their taught writing jotters.
Have a look at our fab pictures!
Room 3 had lots of fun in the kitchen this week making delicious chocolate Halloween apples. The smell of the hot melted chocolate was delicious and it was very tempting to taste it from the bowl.
They decorated them with spooky Halloween decorations and they said they tasted delicious!
