Sports Leader Recruitment

Vikki Atkinson our Active Sports Co-Ordinator came to visit both P7   classes on Friday to tell them all about how to become a Junior Sports Leader.   Vikki was delighted at the number of pupils who expressed an interest in the training.

Training will commence shortly and we will update you on activities on offer when we have further information.  Once trained our Junior Sports Leaders will run activities at lunchtime for our younger pupils.

Class Charter

In order to support a positive learning environment for pupils and to help make the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) more prominent and relevant P7 had the opportunity today for quality discussions to take place.  We  discussed what makes a good class and shared the qualities we would like our teachers to have and what we need to do to be good pupils as well as what we would like included in our lessons.

By taking part in this task we encouraged lots of pupil led dialogue and got to share what is most important to us in our own classroom context.  Our next steps are to agree what is most important to us – we might even vote before agreeing on our Class Charter.

End of Term Assembly

The whole school gathered today for our end of term assembly. We took the opportunity to review our term and celebrate some of our success over this period.  Congratulations to our maths, writers and artist stars of the month.  Well done everyone.

Today we awarded netball stars, football stars and received awards for attendance as well as celebrating the fact Monklands won the sports day points tally.

We are immensely proud of everyone for their hard work and commitment over the past year and wish our primary 7 children well as they go off to pastures new.

We hope everyone has a fabulous summer holiday.  Keep safe everyone.  We can’t wait to see you in August.

Foodbank Donation

Massive thank you to everyone who kindly supported our Foodbank appeal over the past few weeks in aid of Coatbridge Community Foodbank.  Your support has been overwhelming, with over 30 bags of groceries and toiletries being received.

Mrs Drummond ran out of space in her car to take this donation to the Foodbank and had to enlist some help from these trusty pupils to carrry everything.  In a world when you can be anything – be kind.
