Lego Therapy

Mr. O’Dowd’s class welcomed Rebecca from Speech and Language who ran a Lego Therapy session.  The activity was designed to enhance co-operative skills and to further develop talking and listening skills.  Within each group the  children were given roles.  An engineer would describe the lego pieces to a supplier, who would then find them for the builder.  The builder would then complete the model according to the engineer’s instructions.  Great team work boys and girls!

The pupils of Pr. 7 visited St.Ambrose for a STEM  day (science, technology, engineering and maths). The day was lead by pupils from S5 and S6 who carried out their role as STEM Ambassadors with great care and attention.  Many thanks to St.Ambrose for hosting such an event and inviting the cluster primary schools to attend.

Both Mrs.Shields and Mr.O’Dowd reported that their visit to the museum was a great success with the children desperate to show off how much they had learned from their recent Interdisciplinary Project on the Egyptians.  The feedback from the pupils about the workshop was very positive and also highlighted how enjoyable and informative it was for everyone.  Congratulations to everyone from Pr. 3 for being such great ambassadors of the school.

Celebrating Success

At our assembly this morning for Pr. 5 – 7 there was a focus on the success of our Sportshall Athletes who came in first place for the Coatbridge finals.  We have now successfully qualified for the North Lanarkshire finals which are due to be held in Ravenscraig where we will be competing with the other finalists from across the authority.  We also celebrated the success of one of our violinist who recently passed her music grading.  We were also joined by a pupil who dedicates each Friday to attending practices with the North Lanarkshire Preparatory Band.  She will soon perform in The Royal Concert Hall.  Well done boys and girls and congratulations t all pupils who received a certificate in recognition of their efforts.
