An exciting new project!!
Tolle Lege 2 – A Chance for Your Child to be Published in a Real Book
18 years ago St Augustine’s became the first primary school in Scotland to publish their own professionally printed and bound book. It was called Tolle Lege after our school motto, which means, ‘pick up and read.’
And now we’re going to do it again. Primary 6 and 7 pupils have formed an Editorial Team and are looking for stories, poems, recounts and opinions to fill the pages of what’s going to be the greatest book ever written. If your child would like to appear in a real book then now’s their chance.
They can write any kind of story they like. Adventure stories, action stories, ghost stories, fairy tales. Stories in the future or stories in the past. Stories about real things or stories about dragons and goblins and talking trees.
Maybe they would rather write a poem? Long, or short, it could be about anything they like.
Perhaps they would rather write a recount or a memory. What was their best day ever? Or their worst? What did you and your family do during lockdown?
Or possibly they have a strong opinion? How do they feel about what we’re doing to the environment? Or about Brexit? Or do they have a favourite pastime? They can write an article on anything they like.
We might not have space to include everyone’s writing, but if your child would like a chance to be included in the book then they’ll have to submit it to us by Friday 18th of February. They can write anything they like: stories, poems, recounts or opinions, just so long as it’s their own work and they don’t use anyone else’s stories or characters.
And remember: the closing date for entries is Friday 18th February.
Good luck! We can’t wait to read what the pupils of St Augustine’s come up with.
Many thanks,
The Editorial Team,
St Augustine’s Primary School
