Pr.7 Retreat
Our Primary 7 pupils and excellent school ambassadors left the school campus today to attend their Retreat at St.Augustine’s Parish Centre. They started off the school day with Mass up the stairs in the centre and then took part in a workshop finding out about famous Christians who put their faith into action everyday. Afterwards they got the oportunity to present their findings to their peers. Thanks to the generosity of Father Kane and a contribution from school funds the children then enjoyed a wonderful lunch in Kairos Cafe. The afternoon was led by Father Kane who both inspired and reflected with children upon the qualities we should look to develop in order to grow on our journey of faith and serve others. A truly wonderful day that I am sure will leave a lasting impression on all. The children were totally enthused with their day. Many thanks once again to Father Kane and Miss Robertson from St.Ambrose for working in partnership with the school to plan and deliver a wonderful programme for the children. Faith in Action!!
Happy Father’s Day on Sunday
Primary 5 pupils were busy today making Father’s Day cards! Pupils created their own voucher cards to include in the wallets which can be redeemed for household chores and treats! I did read some interesting ones that included a voucher to obtain full use of the remote. I am sure that will be a most worthwhile and highly valued voucher over the next few weeks while the Euros are on!
Room 12 Presentations
The boys and girls of Room 12 have been busy presenting their personal research projects in class this week. As you can see from the photographs the children have spent a great deal of time researching and planning how to best deliver their findings to their peers. A highly worthwhile homework project that promoted personalisation and choice in learning whilst giving the children an oportunity to develop their presentation skills. Great work children!!
School Show Preparations
The boys and girls have been hard at work practising for the Pr.6 and Pr.7 summer show titled ‘Go for Gold’. Everyone is getting excited about the production and there are a great deal of last minute preparations taking place to get everything in order. The show will be presented to the whole school on Tuesday afternoon with a performance taking place on Wednesday 22nd June at 2.00pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and see the performance. Doors will open at 1.30pm.
Pr.6 Retreat
Our Pr.6 pupils went on a retreat to St.Augustine’s Parish Centre on Wednesday to reflect on their faith journey and to consider how they can put their faith into action as they move into Pr.7. A special thanks is extended to Father Kane and Miss Robertson from St.Ambose who delivered an inspiring and memorable day. Here is a photograph of Father Kane as he made a link between the qualities needed to be a surfer and a Christian, such as courage, resilience and faithfulness. Our Pr.7 pupils will attend their retreat on Friday.
Room 1-8 Sports Day
As promised here is our slideshow from the sports morning last week. It also includes a snapshot of our competitive parents!!
Celebrating Success
Today at our Wednesday afternoon assembly we celebrated the accomplishments of our fabulous boys and girls. Pupils received pupil of the week awards and good citizen awards. I was in the process of uploading a photograph of today’s recipients when I realised that quite a few pictures have not been posted and this included pictures of pupils who have achieved success out of school. Apologies children here you are!
Room 12 presentations
Room 12 pupils have been busy in class presenting their personal projects to the class. They have clearly demonstrated confidence and articulated themselves very well in front of their peers. One pupil completed a PowerPoint on the Oceans and asked questions at the end of his presentation to check everyone’s listening skills and to see if they learned some new and interesting facts . Another example illustrates how one of our pupils interpreted the challenge set by Mrs.McGlone and of presented her model of a venue for the aquatic events linked to her learning on the Olympics. Well done boys and girls! Great skills demonstrating personalisation and choice in learning.
Kodaly Music Lessons
Room 12 have really enjoyed Kodaly music lessons with the visiting specialist, Mrs Ewart. Each group worked collaboratively to answer questions in the end of the year quiz. Well done boys and girls!
