The first of our committee meetings took place on Friday with the Health Comittee taking the time to get to know one another and to make delicious fruit kebabs. They also focused upon the importance of health and safety in the kitchen.

Parental Engagement Survey
North Lanarkshire Council’s Parental Engagement Strategy is currently being revised.
As well as reviewing the practice since the introduction of the Parental Involvement Act 2006, the revised strategy will draw on schools’ current and intended relationship with parents.
The recently published Education Scotland Act 2016 and the HGIOS4 both contain dedicated sections which emphasise the need for schools and parents to work effectively to enhance pupil progress and school improvement.
North Lanarkshire have created a survey for parents which can be accessed by clicking on the following link (before Friday 30th September).

The National Parent Forum of Scotland
Parents, Carers and family members; we want your views
This review asks for your opinion on the impact, successes and failings of the Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006. This includes looking at how well schools involve parents in what they do, and finding ideas to develop ways to better involve parents in the life and work of their schools. It is also hoped that it will inspire everyone to look at the most effective way of helping parents support children in Scottish schools.
A ‘Call for Evidence’ is a way to ask the public what they think, gather information on what issues exist, and suggest ways of dealing with them. It includes set questions, but can also involve people describing what their experience has been, or what their opinions are.
This call for evidence asks for your views as a parent.
It can be completed via online survey here
Paper copies can downloaded and printed out to be emailed or posted back, from here. Or we can send you a copy.
You can contact the NPFS on 0131 313 8842 or by emailing reviewteam@npfs.org.uk
If you would like to return your paper copy to us please send them to Review Team, NPFS, Rosebery House, 9 Haymarket Terrace, Edinburgh, EH12 5EZ

The survey will close on October 31st
Pr. 1- 4 Superstars
Here are the photographs of our award winners from the Pr. 1 – 4 assembly on Wenesday. We are also featuring our children who have achieved notable success outside of school. Well done boys and girls!!
SUPER SOUP!!
Primary One/Two were very excited coming to school this morning as they were cooking in the kitchen. The vegetables that they harvested yesterday were ready to go into delicious homemade soup. The children had to give the vegetables a good wash first though!
The children learned how to use the grater when preparing the carrots for the soup.
They added potatoes, carrots and onion and some magic stock. The smell was as good as the taste!
Miss Ross reports that the children had a lovely afternoon doing purposeful play; learning role play through Percy and his friends, Making Percy cards at the writing table and using play doh to make exciting things for Percy and his friends.
Later everyone sat down together and had some lovely soup with nice, crusty bread. The boys and girls even sent some soup along to the office for Mrs.Docherty!!! Super soup indeed!!
St.Augustine’s Superstars
At our assembly this week we celebrated the achievement of children both in class and also outside school. Children were recognised for their good citizenship and the excellent effort given to their work in class. We also learned about some highly talented and dedicated pupils who took part in competitions and events that involved dancing, cycling and running. Quite an accomplishment!
