Our school breakfast club is open daily from 8.15 am and will serve breakfast to school pupils until 8.45 am.
A choice of cereal and milk, toast and fruit juice is available. All children who are in receipt of free school meals (including ALL P1-P3 pupils) will receive a free breakfast. For pupils in P4-P7, there will be a charge of £1.00 per day (except for pupils in receipt of free school meals). The cost to families with two children attending will be £1.50 and three children attending will cost £1.80.
Pupils wishing to access the Breakfast Club should enter by the pupil doors nearest the Head Teacher’s office. Mrs. Pollock and Mrs. Duffy operate the club.
After their breakfast, children will be provided with opportunities to participate in fun games and activities, or they can go outside to play until school begins.
The North Lanarkshire Breakfast Services Programme is designed with children and parents in mind. It offers children a healthy and fun way of starting the school day while granting parents peace of mind knowing that their children have a healthy breakfast and are well looked after in a safe, welcoming environment whilst easing the burden of a sometimes hectic morning schedule.
It is North Lanarkshire’s policy to offer foods that meet national nutritional guidelines set by The Scottish Government.
We aim to reduce the amount of sugar, fat and salt in the diet while increasing fruit, vegetables and fibre.
We hope that you will support our school as well as North Lanarkshire’s policy by encouraging your child to attend this valuable service.
Studies have shown that eating breakfast/coming to breakfast club every morning will:
- Provide a healthy nutritious start to the day
- Help children to be alert and ready to learn
- Encourage children to mix with their friends
- Improve attendance and performance throughout the day
- Reassure parents that their child is safe when dropped off in the morning
