Supporting Home Learning through Teams

We are so thankful that the majority of our children are accessing learning from home using MS Teams. This document provides further information on how to upload assignments and where to locate feedback left by the class teacher.

We are keen to make this learning transition as easy as possible for children and their parents so please do not hesitate to get in contact should you require any help.

Home/ Blended Learning

Dear Parent/ Carers,

Home learning opportunities will commence 11th January. Teachers will be available on Microsoft Teams at 10 am to explain the format this will take.  Children should access their class Team but in the event you are only able to access one Team and have more than one child please access the older child’s Team.  There will be another check in opportunity at 2pm.

To support those unable to access Microsoft Teams we have created a  supplementary grid. Feedback from parents indicated a January Additional Activity Grid Challenge Calendar week 1 smpreference for one grid across the school. Parents with children working on different levels found that it was tricky for the children to complete all of the tasks, particularly when parents were supporting their children through some of the activities.

The following two pages of activities are designed to supplement the learning prepared by teachers for each stage (available on Microsoft Teams) and are for the whole school (with the exception of one research activity). The grid activities are centred on Health and Wellbeing (HWB), RME and the theme of Scotland. Some involve design, arts and crafts while others are physical activities; one or two are simply for enjoyment. Indeed some can be enjoyed by all of the family.

There is an additional daily challenge grid available, kindly shared by our colleagues. This is just for fun!

Please continue to follow us on TEAMS, the school website and on Twitter.

If children are unable to access Teams, children’s work can be uploaded to staff email addresses. Thank you!

First/ Second Level Online Newspaper and Scavenger Hunt.

T

This is a link to an online newspaper for children. It has interesting articles, competitions and puzzles. It is great for just reading but I have also included a Scavenger hunt that can be used for homework comprehension if further activities are wanted. This activity is suitable for children mainly in P4-P7. Children can read the online paper and write the answers in their homework jotter or they can use Microsoft word in their Glow to share answers with their teacher.

P1 Home Learning Grid – December

Hi Everyone,

Elfie has arrived at Santa’s Grotto (aka P1’s classroom) and it’s safe to say we are in store for a fun-filled month  on the countdown to Christmas! Whilst it may be a very different Christmas for many of us this year, we are keeping spirits high and have lots to be doing!

Your child will be taking home a letter tomorrow (Thurs 3rd December) regarding accessing Microsoft Teams, if you have not already done so, please could you do this asap. Please could you also encourage your child to practise their Christmas Show songs (links to songs are included in page 2 of the Home Learning Grid).

Please see attached Home Learning Grid with suggested activities to work through with your child for the month of December along with some Christmas Holiday activities you may wish to do over the festive period.

P1 have worked so hard and I am very proud of how well they have settled into their first year at school. Have a very happy, holy Christmas everyone and I will speak to you all again in the New Year!

Best wishes,

Miss Coyle.

P4 December Homework

Dear Parents,

Your children have worked extremely hard this term and should be extremely proud of their efforts.  They also delivered brilliant and interesting solo talks this term.  To say well done, the children have been assigned fun Christmas themed activities for homework for the month of December. Please see the grid attached below.

Please also help your child to learn the lyrics to the Chinese Song for our school show.

Many thanks and Merry Christmas!

Mrs. Mori and Mrs. Schammas
