P6/7 Art Attack

As part of the Read to Succeed week, P6/7 were taking part in an ‘Art Attack’ in the playground.  They were challenged with designing some art relating to ‘Gangsta Granny’.  They had great fun and their designs were superb.  Well done everyone.

P7 Maths Competition

Yesterday I was lucky enough to accompany 8 P7 children to Our Lady’s High School for a maths challenge, competing against other schools.  The children all worked very hard and did themselves proud.  On a few occasions, the children managed to get the correct answers in for marking faster than the other schools.  Their behaviour was also superb.  Well done children.

P6/7 Food Banks

P6/7 have been studying about the needs of people in Cumbernauld who use food banks and how these food banks are supported.  After discussion, the children decided that if they can, they will bring something in to donate to the food banks. Children can bring in non-perishable foods, clothes that are in a good condition, unused toiletries or toys. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and we will then organise

Fairtrade Fortnight

Just a little reminder that Fairtrade smoothies will be on sale to the children tomorrow for 50p.  Please support us in raising awareness of Fairtrade within our school community.  Children will also be taking part in Fairtrade activities within their class.

Scholastic Book Fair

We are delighted to announce that the Scholastic Book Fair will soon be arriving in our school. Children will visit the Book Fair during Read to Succeed Week beginning on the 21st March. Parents will have the opportunity to purchase books from the Book Fair during Parents’ Evening on Thursday 24th March. P6/7 World Book Day

Many children in P6/7 dressed up as their favourite characters for World Book Day today.  They chose a book from the library to have some quiet reading time and also had the opportunity to discuss who their favourite character is and what they like about them.

Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade Fortnight has started very well in our school.  Fairtrade bananas are on sale each day and yesterday we had a very successful food tasting session.  We are holding lots of Fairtrade events over this week and next including raffles and competitions.  Fairtrade smoothies will also be for sale on Wednesday 9th March for 50p. Thank you for all of your support in raising awareness of Fairtrade in our school.

P6/7 Science

P6/7 have been categorising different living things in the Amazon rainforest.  We can’t believe how many different types of plants, trees, birds, fish, animals and insects live there!

Mass
