Rock On Rochsolloch!

Last night our pupils performed a wonderful rock concert in front of a jam-packed audience in New Wellwynd Church! Capping off the end of the Rookie Rockstars experience, our young rockers sang and danced their hearts out, amazing the crowd with their confidence and with the quality of their performance!

Take a look at the gallery and check out the fun our pupils had rocking out!

This really has been an amazing experience for our pupils, who have loved every minute of it.

Scottish Assembly

As you will know, our pupils have recently been learning Scots poetry in class and at home as part of our annual Scottish Verse Speaking Competition. Today, we held our Scottish Assembly, where our pupils who had finished 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their class were presented with certificates in front of the whole school and invited guests.

Our competition winners performed their poems on stage to a jam-packed gym hall, and they were absolutely superb. Following the wonderful poetry recital, we were treated to a highland sword dance by two of our pupils, which was spectacular!

Congratulations to all of our winner, and to every pupil who competed in our Verse Speaking Competition – the standard of the performances was higher than ever!

Many thanks as well to all of our families who supported their children at home, taking the time to practice and get all of those tricky words just right!

Christmas Service

On Wednesday, we held our annual Christmas Service in the school.  Each of our classes, and the School Choir performed a range of festive songs for the audience in our packed gym hall!

As our pupils get more and more used to performing on stage, the standard of performance just gets higher and higher and higher! There was a lovely mix of traditional and modern songs: some very lively and upbeat, others slower and more reflective.

Mr Hamilton did a great job leading the service for our pupils, staff and parents, and he was ably assisted by several excellent readers from across the school.

Each and every pupil on stage did themselves, their school and their families proud.  It was a lovely way to cap off a busy and successful festive spell!

Fun-d Raising!

Primary 4/5 showed an enterprising approach when they invited the whole school to their fund-raising Fun Day yesterday.

The pupils had organised a variety of different fun 10p activities for pupils to participate in, such as:

  • Pin the Tail on the Donkey
  • ‘Pie Face’
  • Artists Corner
  • Tombola
  • Balloon Animals
  • Guess the Bear’s Birthday
  • Beat the Goalie
  • Knock ’em Down

The children managed to raise a fantastic £140 for The Beatson Cancer Care charity.

It is events like this that make us so proud of our young people.  Well done P4/5…what a great way to round of a successful year!

End of Term Assembly

Yesterday we held our End of Term Assembly, where, as always, our pupils did us proud on the stage by putting on some amazing performances.

Each class presented a song linked to their class learning, before presentations were made to our wonderful Primary 7 pupils.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended the show for creating such a terrific atmosphere.  We would also like to thank all of our staff, and most importantly our pupils for working so hard to put on a great show!

Rio comes to Rochsolloch!

Today, P1-P7 took part in an Olympic-themed Potted Sports Day.  The children worked in House Teams, with each team representing a different Olympic Nation.  Some of the events the children were involved in were:

  • Hurdles
  • Basketball Dribble
  • Tennis
  • Rugby Shuttles
  • Obstacle Course
  • Golf Chipping
  • Team Relays

As a bit of fun for the pupils who had worked so hard, the event concluded with a Teachers’ Relay and Parents’ Obstacle Relay, much to the delight of the children.

We would like to thank all of the parents who came to cheer on the young athletes, as well as the children and staff who worked so hard to make the event a success.  We would also like to say a special thank you to Mr Griffin and P6 who have worked tirelessly to make our Sports Day a memorable one!  We’re already looking forward to next year’s!
