An Update from the Captain’s Cabinet

Following the great success of last month’s Cash for Kids fun day, the cabinet would like to offer a huge thank you to anyone who took part and gave money to the important cause. With everyone’s tremendous efforts the school has received £1,226.41 back from the amazing £2,452.82 that we managed to raise. The school’s pupil parliament will then decide on what to do with the money that has been given back to the school.

The cabinet was tasked with making a video to help tackle the malicious activations of fire alarms. This video focused on the hidden burdens of the fire alarms. Many pupils in the school have various disabilities so a false fire alarm can mean missing or losing time of vital treatments and services, unnecessary distress, and trauma. It is essential that we as a school recognize the serious impacts of setting off the fire alarm unnecessarily for fellow students. The Yearbook committee has been very busy lately, organizing and carrying out a S6 photo day for individual and group shots, they would like to thank the photography team for all of the help as all of the photos turned out beautifully. They also needed to choose a list of superlatives for the year to make nominations and vote on. Some of the superlative categories included: Prom King and Queen, best ginger, cutest couple, and best personality, along with many more, the winners of which will be announced at Prom. As the committee focuses on health and safety they are seeing an improvement of mask wear, however use of masks on school busses is still a massive issue so continue to encourage pupils to act responsibly and follow all regulations. Currently Sixth Year Social are planning an S6 Christmas fun day to raise money for extra prom expenses. On the day, the committee are hoping to deck the assembly hall with lots of decorations and run activities such as a Christmas quiz, festive movie showing and a photo booth. All the activities will keep current restrictions in mind and the committee are working hard to make everything covid friendly. Finally, the Prom committee are trying to source a venue and plan themes (hoping that corona will allow any of it to go ahead).
