Orchard Primary Staff and pupils are very proud of our links within the local community. Here are some examples of Partnership working this session.

Rendezvous Cafe and Community Park

To make the best use of the community pupils from the LCSC regularly visit this cafe and park. It’s an invaluable partnership as it helps to reinforce life skills such as road safety, stranger danger and social communication for pupils during these visits. The staff and community have been extremely welcoming and we thank them for their continued support. Next term it is planned that Primary 5-7 from mainstream will be visiting the Gowkthrapple Community Cafe on a monthly basis during their mile a day walk to make use of another established partnership.

Entrepreneur Me

Over the last few weeks P5, P6 and L5/6/7b have been developing their business skills. During a one day workshop with Matt Stewart they had the opportunity to take on different business roles whilst learning about designing, making and selling items. We were very fortunate to have the experience of Matt to guide our pupils through the process of becoming entrepreneurs. We would also like to extend our thanks to the parent helpers who attended to provide support. The next part of this journey will involve P6 and L5/6/7b choosing a local organisation and in their business groups they will make products to sell at the Christmas Crafts afternoon, they will do this by using a loan from Entrepreneur Me, profits made will go to the local organisation.

Shining Stars ASN

This term we are working with Shining Stars theatre group. They will be running a series of workshops with all of our LCSC classes. In a one off workshop we will also be having a Makaton Choir with P6 and L5/6/7 a & b
