Mummifying an Apple

As part of our IDL this term we are learning about mummification. We have written instructions on how to make an Egyptian mummy and designed an Egyptian death mask. This afternoon we began an experiment to see if we could mummify an apple by using a variety of different ingredients. We used table salt, Epsom salt and baking powder. We also left one apple with no salt on it as our control.

Sophia – This afternoon we tried to preserve an apple.

Dior – We were mummifying apples today. I think that the juice is going to come out of them.

Mya – I thought it was interesting putting the mixture of ingredients and I can’t wait to see what happens to them.

We all made predictions about what we think would happen to the apples. Check back with us in a week to find out!
