Our JRSO committee met for the first time on Friday. We started off by discussing the need for teaching Road Safety in Orchard Primary – we conducted a traffic survey and were amazed by how many vehicles passed in a 5 minute spell. We decided to take part in a JRSO assembly and organise a slogan competition for the rest of the school. We also decided to produce a Road Safety pack for each class and we looked at a range of resources to determine which ones would be suitable for each stage. We also thought it would be a good idea to invite the Gist lorry to teach everyone about visibility and stopping distances. Our 2 JRSO’s made a mind map of everyone’s ideas. All in all it was a very busy meeting!
