THE AMAZING BLOG ABOUT FISH
By: Alex and Isla

All of our eggs have hatched into Alevins. This is the scientist term for baby fish. We take screw cap bottles and ice them throughout the day to keep them at around 9C. Not all have survived! We then replace more bottles and take out the thawed ones. We check for dead fish eggs and we find shells. Getting the shells was almost impossible!  We record all the temperature on a line graph which links to our current maths topic of data and information handling. Every day 2 pupils out of the P6 class go down to the cafeteria to collect 5 bottles and replace 5 bottles. This means the bottles will be cold and basically freezing so the fish will love it. So far our fish are doing well! When we will release the fish they will be fry but just now they are still Alevins. This week our taught writing lesson focused on persuading other schools to take on the Clyde in the Classroom project, we have been particularity thinking about using emotive and persuasive language! This weeks Star Writers work is below also. Primary 6 have invited every class in the school to come and see our fish and learn about this amazing project, both LCSC and Mainstream and also our nursery! We are all hoping that lots of our alevins survive over the February weekend and will be back next week to let you know! 🙂

Here are some photos and videos of our alevins!
