P6 are Staying Safe Online!

As part of our topic on Internet safety we have been discussing different ways we can protect ourselves and our identity online. We chatted about keeping any online profiles we may have private, avoiding things that look inappropriate, not following or ‘friending’ people we do not know personally and thinking about what we say online.

We visited CBBC Internet Safety Tips and Think U Know websites for tips, games and ideas to keep ourselves safe online.

Here are some of our internet safety tips:

Never share passwords and make your account private –   Leighann & Drew

Always have a private account and don’t say things that could hurt other people – Alex & Angel

Ask your parents for advice and permission. Sit near a parent whilst you are online. Don’t type things you don’t want said back to you – Lauren & Kaden

Don’t say anything silly online, don’t follow people you do not know and don’t cyberbully – Craig, Isla  & Levi

If you think your account has been hacked or isn’t safe, warn your friends! Ignore people who try and contact you if you don’t know them. Make sure your parents know what you are up to online – Jake & Jodi

Report inappropriate picture to owners of the websites, make sure parents know you are safe online and if someone/or a group you know is doing something silly, don’t take screenshots and don’t add them to the chat as it will probably hurt them – Emma & Julia

Don’t on to sites you don’t know/or they look weird, don’t trust them. If your parents say not to do something online, respect their decision. Don;t try and show off and be inappropriate – Michael & Jennifer

Don’t do anything silly or stupid, think about who is reading or looking at what you say, make sure if you are talking to someone it is really the person they say they are – Freya & Ryan
