Here in Cathedral Primary, teachers use ‘Milestone Moment’ stickers to indicate key
points in each pupil’s learning journey. One of our learners came up with the great idea of having a special 150th anniversary Milestone Moment sticker to use throughout 2025. The above Primary 5 learner was exceptionally proud to be the very first Cathedral pupil to receive one of our special stickers on Wednesday 8th January when she completed a maths assessment on dividing with remainders.
Learners from Primary 1 to Primary 7 are very excited about seeing 150th anniversary Milestone Moment stickers appear in their jotters in the weeks and months ahead.

January’s wellbeing indicator is ACTIVE. Please use the prompts below to talk to your child about this indicator. This will help them complete their wellbeing wheel in school.
Children who turn 5 between 1st March 2025 and 29th February 2026 should be registered for primary school during the week commencing Monday 13th January 2025.
Here at Cathedral Primary, registration for our August 2025 intake will take place from Monday 13th to Friday 17th January 2025, from 1.30 – 2.45pm each day. Parents and carers should come to the main entrance and will be directed to the dining hall.
Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
Movie Duvet Day is a very popular Christmas tradition here at Cathedral. After the busyness of the past few weeks, boys and girls across the school thoroughly enjoyed turning up in their pyjamas and cosying up with their friends on Friday 20th December to watch a Christmas movie or two during the course of the day… a special end to the term which Danish folk would describe as ‘hygge‘!
After a fun day of parties and the pantomime, learning continued across the school on Thursday 19th December, although with a definite focus on adult-initiated and learner-led learning activities. Mr Young popped in to see one group of Primary 7 learners perform their own mini pantomime and, later in the day, was astounded by the party dress a group of girls had designed and created from materials in their learning street’s Creation Station. The above learners spent part of their day engaged in food technology, creating some cute, delicious melting snowmen.
Cathedral’s first value is Love and we often think about ways our school community can help those less fortunate than ourselves. Cathedral’s Ignite Junior Chaplaincy Team coordinated a reverse Advent Calendar during the month of December which invited one pupil each day to bring in a donation for local food bank, Deepsea Day. As is so often the case, the generosity of Cathedral families exceeded all expectations and the charity was absolutely delighted to collect the bags of food on Thursday 19th December which will go directly to support people in our local community.
After all the hard work of our Primary 3 – 7 Christmas concert and Primary 1 and 2 Nativity, Cathedral learners had the opportunity to BE the audience on Wednesday 18th December when M & M Productions performed ‘Robin Hood’. The familiar story was retold with the usual pantomime drama, costumes, songs and humour (oh, yes, it was!) and the festive production was a well-earned treat for pupils (including our nursery children) and staff alike.
We reported on Monday 16th December that, due to a number of bugs going around, Cathedral’s overall pupil attendance had dropped by a worrying 2% to 92.6%. However, Mr Young did an attendance check on Wednesday 18th December and was absolutely delighted to see that the school’s overall attendance rate for that day was 95%. It would be fantastic to have an equally healthy attendance rate on the last day of term (Friday 20th) when we’ll enjoy our traditional Movie Duvet Day.
