Following an idea dropped into our Pupil Voice Suggestion Box, one of our recent Smart School Council projects was the opportunity for Cathedral learners to design a mascot for their House. The most popular animal submitted for each House was chosen as the winner and all six have now been transformed into real-life mascots, complete with their own Cathedral t-shirt.
Primary 1 learners and their Primary 7 buddies got together on World Book Day to enjoy ‘The Cat in the Hat’ by Dr Seuss. Our learners, from opposite ends of the school, enjoyed listening to the story together and then teamed-up to make fantastic hats of their own (see below).
Three members of St Bernadette’s parish Legion
of Mary visited Cathedral Primary on Thursday 6th March to pray the rosary with Primary 4 learners. The children meditated on the Mysteries of Light during their time of prayer:

Cathedral school community gathered for Mass on Ash Wednesday, 5th March, to mark the beginning of Lent. Pupils and staff received their ashes, a
sign of being sorry for the wrong things we do and of our commitment to grow closer to Jesus in the coming weeks.
The latest artwork to appear in Cathedral GOMA (
Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent, falls on 5th March.
One of the daily pleasures of learning and working in Cathedral Primary School is being surrounded by beautiful artwork. Over the next few weeks,
we want to share some of our talented learners’ masterpieces with newsfeed readers.
As a Catholic school, Lenten almsgiving is an important part of the faith life of Cathedral Primary. However, we also recognise that there is a cost of living crisis and many families are struggling financially. Although we have planned our usual programme of fun activities to raise money for charity during Lent, no family should feel under any pressure whatsoever to make a donation each week. Please only give what you can.
