Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral Primary School

Forest Schools

Cathedral nursery learners regularly access our Forest Schools area, just outside the school grounds. In this wonderful woodland environment, the children have exciting opportunities to build problem-solving skills, confidence, independence and resilience as they are given freedom to test their limits in the natural world.

Cathedral’s Forest School area is only as big and full of resources as our children’s imaginations. Learning opportunities are almost limitless and include:

  • Climbing trees
  • Making campfires and cooking
  • Woodworking
  • Building shelters and dens
  • Playing in the mud
  • Foraging
  • Various social games such as hide and seek
  • Using nature for arts and crafts
  • Animal spotting and bug hunting
