Procedures in Place for Cashless Cafeteria

Within Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral Primary School we operate a cashless cafeteria system. Our children each have a personal swipe card, they use the cash machines sited in the dining hall to put money onto their cards and this information is transferred electronically to our kitchen. Each child’s photograph is linked to their account.

Our school operates the ‘band’ pre-order system, where children select, at the beginning of the school day, which meal they would like for lunch. We ask parents to assist in this process by discussing the menu with their children.  At lunchtime the children go to the servery, say their name and class, and the dining staff can identify them by photograph and automatically adjust their cash balance depending on what they spend. This system allows for a steady flow of children through our dining hall and ensures no discrimination between those paying for lunch and those children entitled to free school meals. No monies are exchanged at the servery.

The maximum cost of a 2 course lunch with drink is £3.10 per day.

Children in Primaries 1 – 5  are entitled to a free school lunch.  Parents of P 6 & 7 children who pay for their lunch, should ensure funds are added to the child’s online account.

Please note: any child requiring a special diet e.g. gluten free, must ensure the correct medical forms have been completed through their GP surgery prior to children receiving meals in school.

Children are most welcome to bring a packed lunch from home.

Parents must ensure that no ‘nut-based products’ are included in packed lunches.
