The last time Cathedral was inspected was way back in 2009, and it is highly likely a team of His Majesty’s Inspectors of Education (HMIe) will visit the school and nursery sometime between now and the summer holidays.
Regular self-evaluation, using the Education Scotland document How good is our school? 4, is integral to ongoing improvement here in Cathedral and this means we know our school (our strengths and next steps) exceptionally well. During the upcoming inspection, Cathedral Primary and Nursery Class will be inspected on four main Quality Indicators from How good is our school? 4:
1.3 Leadership of change
2.3 Learning, teaching and assessment
3.1 Ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion
3.2 Raising attainment and achievement
Inspectors will also look at Cathedral’s curriculum and the way we work in partnership with others to support our pupils’ learning and development.
Cathedral Primary has developed pictorial overviews which summarise our school community’s self-evaluation against the above Quality Indicators. These accessible documents mean that everyone involved in the life and work of our school – staff, parents/carers, our partners and even our older pupils – have a clear understanding of how good Cathedral Primary School is.
A new weekly feature was introduced to our website newsfeed on 12th January 2024. ‘Friday Focus’ provides Cathedral parents and carers with important information relating to our upcoming inspection to ensure they are as prepared for the visit as pupils and staff. Each week’s ‘Friday Focus’ can be accessed via the links below:
