There have already been lots of exciting learning opportunities taking place. Our children have been developing their problem-solving skills through completing jigsaws, while exploring early numeracy through counting and subitising with marbles. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity, concentration and enthusiasm for learning shine through.
Our curiosity has also taken us outdoors, where we have been carefully observing our vegetable patch and discovering what has been growing. We were super excited to find a caterpillar hiding amongst our lettuce.
The children have been fascinated by our new little friend and have been carefully observing it while learning how to care for it. Together, we created a safe habitat where our caterpillar can grow and develop. We have been talking about the life cycle of a caterpillar, exploring how it changes and transforms into a beautiful butterfly.
We have also enjoyed reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar and making connections between the story and our own exciting discovery.
We can’t wait to watch our caterpillar grow and see what happens next.
What a fantastic beginning to our nursery year — we are looking forward to all the wonderful learning, exploring and adventures still to come.
