Cathedral learners took on a real‑world numeracy challenge for National Numeracy Day — planning the budget for a brand‑new skate park in Motherwell. Working together, they explored what it takes to turn a big idea into a realistic project, using maths to make smart financial decisions.
They researched costs, compared options and discussed what features would give the best value for the community. Pupils used a range of important skills, including: budgeting, estimating, problem solving, teamwork and communication.
Their enthusiasm proved that numeracy isn’t just about numbers — it’s about planning, imagining and building something that could make a real difference in their community.
