
This week, the children enjoyed a delightful visit to a local florist, where they had the opportunity to explore a wide range of beautiful flowers. Their curiosity led to thoughtful questions such as:
- Where do flowers come from
- In which countries do different flowers grow
- How do flowers grow to such impressive sizes
These discussions supported the development of important observation skills and encouraged the children to think more deeply about the wider natural environment.
With the sunny—though slightly breezy—weather, much of our time has been spent outdoors. The children were fascinated by the dandelion seeds drifting through the air. They made insightful connections: some commented that the seeds looked like falling snow, while others were inspired to plant their own seeds and grow flowers themselves.
In our play and learning, we have also been exploring the concept of fairness through the idea of equal parts. Whether sharing food or taking turns with toys, the children are developing a clearer understanding of how to share fairly with their peers.
Technology has captured their interest as well. The children have begun programming the Bee-Bot, giving it instructions to move around the board. This activity has supported their use of positional language, including forwards, backwards, left, and right.
