There’s something powerful about taking mathematics outdoors. The moment learners step outside, numbers stop being abstract and start becoming something they can feel, measure, and experience. Our recent outdoor learning session on speed, distance, and time was the perfect example of this transformation. Rather than beginning with formulas on a whiteboard, we let the learners discover the relationships for themselves through movement, measurement, and real‑world problem solving.
These young learners gave Mrs Duffy a run for their money on Wednesday 11th, when they were spotted in the outdoor classroom collecting data in order to calculate the average speed of each pupil!
