This week in Cathedral Nursery

I am becoming aware of the importance of celebrations, festivals and customs in Christian people’s lives. (RME 0-03a)

Our young learners have been very excited this week in the lead up to Christmas, with lots of different festive learning experiences.

We have used the smartboard to listen to and watch the nativity story and the children now have a good understanding of the meaning of Christmas.

Our boys and girls have been mixing and making their own gingerbread playdough, using their senses to describe how the playdough smells and feels. They selected buttons and sequins to make their gingerbread man clothes.

Some children explored the natural loose parts and created their own decorated Christmas stars and trees using the tinsel, coloured beads and baubles.

Our young learners have been mark making in a variety of ways and have particularly enjoyed using the cocoa powder.

Our building blocks have been a popular resource for imaginative play, with our young learners making sleighs, Christmas trees and stars.

There certainly has been LOTS of Christmas fun in Cathedral nursery this week!
