Home Learning This Week

Good Morning everyone ,

Hope you all have had a nice weekend . The  staff are working hard to find lots of activities for you that will keep you learning but also be fun! We all agree that the most important thing is that everyone is well and happy.

If you are trying your best to do some of the tasks set by your teachers online here or from your packs you were given home that is fantastic. You certainly have a lot to choose from. Remember , you can always go back and look at work set for you previously by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking on “Older Posts” (just above the wee calendar)

Tomorrow I am going to post some L.E.A.P. Time activities for my P.1 and 2 LEAP Stars ! These activities are all about having fun and making you and your family smile. If any of you manage to make each other laugh with these , let me know – gold counters when we get back to school!
( We dont mind if anyone not in P 1 or 2 has a go too !)

It was lovely to speak to some families last week and  to hear from you through the comments here or to my email.I hope many of you got the voicemails I left for you too. Remember , you can contact me anytime on –

ht@oldmonkland.n-lanark.sch.uk

Stay safe , enjoy your learning and have fun this week !

Primary 7

Primary 7 pupils and parents,

Keep checking the Coatbridge High Twitter Feed. Mr Scott is updating his page regularly with information for P7 pupils transferring to Coatbridge High in August.
There is also a lot of important information on the Coatbridge High School website. If you open the page, and  click the menu button, there is a transition section in the drop down menu.

The Royal Bank of Scotland are doing a series of lessons called ‘Money Sense Mondays’. Today’s lesson is all about coins and notes. They are available on Youtube from 11:30am. If you type in Royal Bank of Scotland on Youtube you should find it. I will leave a link to the Youtube site below. The lessons are also available on Facebook if any of your parents have an account.

Primary 4/5 27.4.20

Good morning boys and girls,

I hope you all had a fun weekend and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine! I enjoyed going out different walks this weekend. I even spotted some butterflies!

Next time your out a walk or even in your back garden, why not try a scavenger hunt and see what items you can find?

I was really impressed with lots of boys and girls effort with last weeks Sumdog challenge. Well done to Connor who was top of the leader board.

I have set a new challenge focusing on multiplication for you to complete this week.

You already have this weeks spelling words to complete any spelling activity of your choice. Keep working hard at home and working through the different tasks, but remember to have fun and spend some time outside if you can!

Missing you all lots!

I would love to hear how you are all getting on at home, remember you can leave a comment on this post by clicking on the speech bubble.

London Marathon Project

Hi Boys and Girls,

I have found a very interesting task that focuses on the London Marathon. Before schools closed, Miss McFadden had started to introduce Right Respecting Schools to you during assembly times and I know Miss Marchant and the Health Committee have started a Steering Group.

London_Marathon_UNICEF_Homework (1)

This task relates to-

Article 31- Every child has the right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural activities

Article 12- Every child has the right to express their views, feeling and wishes in all matters affecting them.

We will be starting to think about these Articles when we get back to school. On the PDF it does say about uploading some of the activities on ‘Seesaw’ but you can upload them onto this post by clicking the speech bubble below.

I can’t wait to see you doing some of these challenges!

Primary 2/3

Good Morning Primary 2/3!

I hope you all managed to enjoy the sunny weather over the weekend. I’ve been working hard in my garden and have even taken part in a bit of DIY! I used old wooden pallets to make my own plant pots. It was lots of fun making something new and usable out of something old that I was just going to throw away. Maybe you might like to try up-cycling something too?

I have extended the Spelling challenges on Sum Dog for you and the Maths challenge is still active for you to earn lots of points. I hope you have been enjoying some of your at home learning tasks and still finding lots of time to play.

I have missed watching you all take part in Go Noodle each morning as part of our Welcome to the Day. I wonder if any of you still take part in a fun morning activity to start off your day? Let me know in the comments.

I’ve attached a link to one of my favourite dances “Make Some Noise”. Go Noodle is free to sign up to but is also available through YouTube.

Here is a link to a very popular dance in our class – “Believer”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1f_MBFx1w0

Remember, Go Noodle is even fun when doing it in your pjs! I hope you enjoy it!
Take care,

Good Morning Primary 5/6

Good morning Primary 5/6,

I hope you all had a fun weekend! Did you enjoy the sunshine? We have been very lucky with this lovely weather. I would love to hear from you and see some of the activities you have been doing! You can add a comment by clicking on the speech bubble below.

This week you should continue to work through tasks on your grid and try the new Sumdog Competition. The Sumdog Competition will be focused on money. I know you didn’t do this with me but I know you did lots of fun money activities with Miss Shaw. The Royal Bank of Scotland are introducing MoneySense Mondays. You can join them live on Facebook and YouTube for a fun and interactive lesson every Monday morning starting from today.

I hope you enjoy todays lesson and hope to hear from you soon,

Miss Jones
