Morning Forest Kindergarten session

The morning children used their problem solving skills to make a den at Forest Kindergarten this week, and enjoyed our snack inside it! We investigated some bugs we discovered and explored the names of some mushrooms we found growing! #forestkindergarten

Some children went to visit the local Church to find out more about the food bank and what we can do to help

Some of the children went a visit to the local Church to visit Nicky and find out more information about the food bank and what things we can do to help.

Here are some of the things the children said after our visit

“We went to the church, we wanted to help people and give them food.”

“Give people food cause they have no money. I will give some food.”

“Nicky told us about food, he had pasta, he is going to share it with the boys and girls.”

“Sharing is caring.”

Forest week 2. PM session

We had so much fun at our 2nd week in the Forest.  We started with identifying the boundaries and marking the trees with ribbon as a reminder of these.  The children continued to climb trees and are already growing in confidence with how high they will climb and risk assessing this independently.  There was lots of imaginative play going on this week with the children pretending sticks were magic wands and casting spells on each other to sitting on tree stumps which they were pretending were unicorns and horses.  We even had some zombies at the forest this week!  One child found a large stick and this prompted a game of limbo which was lots of fun!  The children began exploring parts of the Forest which they hadn’t explored on Week 1.  It is lovely watching the children explore and learn about their new surroundings.

PM Forest Visit

The afternoon children had a lovely time at the Forest on Tuesday.  They learned about making boundaries in the Forest and where is safe to go.  They learned the rules of the Forest and how to manage risk in their play.  The children were fully encouraged to take safe risks and we will build on this each week.  The children explored the Forest floor and searched for bugs whilst matching them to a bug chart.  The children spent time climbing trees and making mud.
